Last March 9 and 10, Representative Gila Garcia of Bataan’s 3rd District led the tour of three of the 10 pilot farms in Dinalupihan, demonstrating proof concept in using drip irrigation system in producing high value crops.
Using this precision farming technology, crop yields increased, bigger and more uniform in size compared to traditional farming, which translate to better income for the farmers.
Such is the desired progress towards the realization of Cong. Gila’s vision for Dinalupihan: to make it the model agropolis in Central Luzon.
The farms visited were those of Mr. Ricky Naguiat (tomato farm), Mr. Wilfredo Adriano (onion farm), and Mr. Wilfredo Lutap (cucumber farm).
On the first day, Embassy of Israel Deputy Chief of Mission Nir Balzam, Embassy of Israel Development Cooperation Officer Dee Urtua, LR Group Philippines Country Head Shahar Turgeman, and the representatives from MPIC Group, Department of Agriculture, Public-Private Partnership, and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist joined said tour and discussed updates and future plans for the farms under the drip irrigation system.
Representatives and employees from the Department of Agriculture, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Enviro Scope Synergy Inc., East-West Seed, Ramgo International Corporation, RAM Food Products Inc., 1Bataan Agri Inno-Tech Corp., OPA, and the Agriculture Offices of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Morong, and Balanga, along with farmers of said towns joined the farm tour on the second day and were presented an overview of the project after.
Partners also pledged their support for the project.
“Mapalad po ako dahil isa po ako sa nagkaroon ng makabagong kagamitan gaya ng drip irrigitaion. Napapabilis po ‘yong pagtatrabaho, napapataas ang ani at kalidad ng produkto,” Mr. Ricky Naguiat testified.
